Strategic Impact

Three goals. One mission.

Through our work, RDF contributes directly to Ghana’s sustainable development.

Increase Incomes & Improve Livelihoods

Our work supports smallholder farmers, women agro traders, and MSMEs operating in key value chains that drive inclusive economic growth. By empowering these key economic actors, we contribute to income growth, employment creation, and improved livelihoods across rural communities.

Increase Incomes & Improve Livelihoods

Build Climate Resilience & Food Security

We promote climate-smart agricultural practices and clean energy to protect livelihoods and enhance food security. Over 12,000 MSMEs have significantly improved their climate resilience through climate adaptation and mitigation practices. These include the use of drought-resistant and improved seed varieties, efficient cookstoves, solar-powered irrigation systems as well as provision of weather-indexed insurance.

Impact Stories

Real people. Real change.

Issah Azaratu Mopaga

Issah Azaratu Mopaga

Shea Farmer, Northern Region

Issah began her journey as a small-scale foodstuff trader through her community's Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA). Despite limited resources, she was determined to improve her family's livelihood. Through RDF and Tradeline's partnership, Issah accessed credit that enabled her to expand her business. She diversified into snack production and holds on to her shea produce to benefit from better market prices. Through this, Issah has been able to enrol her daughter in a senior high school, securing a brighter future for the next generation.

Gifty Awini

Gifty Awini

Teacher & Farmer

Gifty, originally a maize farmer, ventured into sorghum cultivation with support from Oyster Agribusiness, an RDF partner. Her yields have been remarkable — from 11 bags of sorghum on just 1 acre. Now she farms 10 acres, and has used the farming income to purchase land for her family, demonstrating how targeted support can transform livelihoods and put land ownership within reach for women.

Abdulai Bawiseh

Abdulai Bawiseh

Smallholder Farmer

Abdulai, a young smallholder farmer engaged in maize cultivation, exemplifies how targeted input financing can unlock economic potential. Benefiting from financing through RDF's intermediaries, Fidelity Bank and Degas Ltd., Abdulai expanded his farm from one acre to two acres, improving his maize yields and income. Leveraging his increased earnings, he purchased a motorbike which now supports his farming activities and enables him to run a complementary trading business — demonstrating how agriculture can serve as a platform for broader economic empowerment.

Khadijat Salifu

Khadijat Salifu

Young Agribusiness Entrepreneur

Khadijatu, a young female beneficiary with a strong entrepreneurial spirit, specialises in maize cultivation. She accessed inputs and technical assistance that enabled her to expand her cultivated land from 1 acre to 3 acres, significantly increasing her production capacity and used the income generated to rent a shop for her dressmaking business. Khadijatu's success demonstrates the potential of young women to drive economic transformation through agribusiness and microenterprise.
